It is En Vogue
Singing at the top of their lungs “free your mind
And the rest will follow,” but it is not to be color blind.
It is Freedom And Liberation.
It is reciting “ase” after libations.
It is all the independent women Destiny’s Child made throw their hands up in the air.
It is Kirk Franklin’s “Do you want a revolution?” after a word of prayer.
And then
It is answering “yes.”
It is taking (y)our power back and telling (y)our stories.
It is Legend and Common’s “Glory,”
Reclaiming (y)our land
And fighting the opposition who don’t understand.
It is in the corners of the star that rests over the Gold Coast.
It is both independence and hope.
